4,412 Liters of Waste Oil Collected in 1 Year in İzmir Buca
In the Buca district of İzmir, the municipality collected 4,412 liters of vegetable waste oil in the past year. Citizens who brought 5 liters or more of waste oil were given dishwashing detergent as a gift, while the collected waste oil was recycled.
Through a project initiated by the Buca Municipality Climate Change Department, awareness was raised to prevent vegetable oil waste used in households from being poured down sink drains, causing blockages, and to eliminate the environmental dangers it creates. While the project aimed to raise environmental awareness among citizens, the collected waste oils were recycled and contributed to the economy. In the past year, 4,412 liters of waste oil were collected through the campaign, which received great interest from the public.
As Habitat Recycling, we are honored to assist in the vegetable waste oil collection campaign launched by the Buca Municipality of İzmir. Communities with environmental awareness must ensure that their vegetable waste oils are given to recycling companies to prevent pollution caused by these oils mixing with sinks, soil, or the sea.
