‘Recycling of Vegetable Waste Oils’ Protocol Signed with Habitat Recycling in Tuşba, Van

The Municipality of Tuşba in Van signed a protocol with Habitat Recycling Environmental Industry and Trade Limited Company for the "Recycling of Vegetable Waste Oils."

Continuing its efforts for environmental sensitivity, Tuşba Municipality has signed a protocol to ensure the effective collection and recycling of vegetable waste oils. Under the protocol, signed to turn an environmental problem into an advantage, vegetable waste oils from homes, schools, and catering factories within the Tuşba Municipality boundaries—oils that pose a significant threat to environmental cleanliness and human health—will be collected by Habitat Recycling Environmental Industry and Trade Limited Company. After collection, these oils will be converted into fuel at production facilities.

The cooperation protocol was signed by Tuşba Mayor Salih Akman and Habitat Recycling representative Cebrail Duran. In his speech at the signing ceremony, Mayor Akman expressed that the effects of human activity on the natural environment are increasing due to the rapidly growing population, advancing industries, and technological progress. He emphasized that the rapid depletion of natural resources has placed “Recycling and Environment” at the top of global agendas. Mayor Akman highlighted the importance of using natural resources efficiently to prevent future generations from facing resource shortages, stating, “With this agreement, the vegetable waste oils will be recycled and disposed of without harming the environment.”

Mayor Akman also stressed that recycling is essential to maintain ecological balance, adding that collecting or storing vegetable waste oils without recycling is not proper municipal practice. “As a municipality, we care deeply about the timely and proper collection of vegetable waste oils. With this awareness, at the end of this period, we will sign another contract with the company to ensure that vegetable waste oils are regularly collected and recycled. Let’s work together with this consciousness to make our city a more beautiful and livable place,” he concluded.
